One Planet

Picnic

Despite the weathers best efforts, nothing was going to sto our One Planet Picnic from going ahead.  Special thanks have to go to the Riverbank Centre for giving us the use of their most wonderful gazebo and a big thanks to Stephie and Cameron for braving the rain to bring us the most wonderful wood fired pizza and for staying cheerful throughout.

Our One Planet Picnic was held at the end of June and we were delighted to welcome so many people to celebrate and enjoy our attempts at making and sharing ethical, sustainable and local choices while creating an exciting and varied picnic spread.

Making choices that support and protect the planet is not always easy and our picnic was a great way to experiment with the options we have available to us, and to explore where to go get produce and where  to visit to get inspiration.

With so many dishes ranging from savoury salads with produce from peoples own gardens to homemade  summer fruit puddings and jammy pastry delights it was hard to choose what to sample.

Stephie from NeighbourFood brought a wood burning pizza oven and spent the afternoon making perfect little pizzas, which included toppings brought from peoples garden.  She was also a great source of knowledge regarding Stirling's Neighbourfood scheme which is wonderful way for you to shop for local, fresh produce direct from the farmers and producers.
